This banana smoothie without milk or yogurt is the perfect way to start your day! It’s super easy to make and packed with nutrients. Especially the addition of chia seeds make it a real power smoothie!

I’m a huge smoothie fan! I have a green smoothie with kale and bananas almost every morning. One of my favorite smoothies are banana smoothies, but unfortunately they’re often loaded with dairy. So it’s about time to make a homemade vegan banana smoothie without milk!

WHAT YOU NEED FOR THIS HEALTHY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITHOUT MILK OR YOGURT:

You need only five ingredients to make vegan this banana smoothie and probably you’ve already got most of them in your pantry.

For one banana smoothie without milk you need the following ingredients:

  • one banana
  • chia seeds
  • natural peanut butter (unsweetened)
  • ice cubes
  • dates
  • water

HOW TO MAKE A HEALTHY BANANA SMOOTHIE WITHOUT MILK:

All you need for this healthy banana smoothie is 5 minutes and a good blender!

STEP 1: Place all of the ingredients in a high speed blender.

STEP 2: Process until smooth. This usually takes between 30 seconds and a minute depending on your blender.

I know the color of this vegan chia banana smoothie might not be the prettiest, but it’s packed with healthy ingredients and it’s so delicious!

  • Instead of sugar, I added dates, which are like nature’s candy.
  • Bananas contain fiber as well as antioxidants. They’re also rich in potassium.
  • And let’s not forget about the chia seeds. Over the last few years, chia seeds have become a popular superfood.

WHAT ARE CHIA SEEDS? AND ARE CHIA SEEDS HEALTHY?

Chia seeds are the edible seed of Salvia hispanica, a plant native to Central America. They’re originally grown in Mexico and “chia” actually means as much as strength. And not without a good reason!

These little seeds are real energy wonders. They contain a large amount of omega-3 fatty acids, carbohydrates, fiber, protein, calcium, and antioxidants.

HOW TO USE CHIA SEEDS:

I usually use chia seeds in energy bites, homemade granola bars, or I sprinkle them over cereal. And of course I also add them to my daily green smoothie.

RECIPE NOTES:

  • For the best results you should use a high speed blender for this smoothie.
  • If you want to add extra flavor, you can add 1/2 teaspoon of natural vanilla extract. You could also sprinkle some cinnamon on top.
  • Please consider that the texture of this smoothie will get a lot thicker if you don’t drink it immediately as the chia seeds will soak up some of the liquid. You can, however, always add more water and blend it again.
