Ingredients
To make the outer cover
Rice flour - 2 cups
Water - 1 cup
Ghee - 4 tablespoons
Salt - 1 pinch
Oil - for frying
Stuffing
Coconut, bunch - 2 cups
Poppy seeds - 4 tbsp
Jaggery - 2 cups
Cardamom Powder -
Cashews and Raisins, Roasted -
Method
Outer cover
Mix rice flour in a bowl with salt.
Now add water and knead it well.
Add ghee to it and knead it well.
Keep it aside for 15 minutes.
Stuffing
Put poppy seeds in a pan and fry.
When it fry then add jaggery and grated coconut. Mix all the things well.
Add cashew and cardamom powder to it.
To make Modak
Take some flour and roll it like a poori.
Roll the modak thin to make it crispy.
Cut the puri with a circular cutter to make the modak the same size.
Spread the filling over it with a spoon.
Take all its edges together and close it well.
Fry the modak by heating the oil. Keep in mind that the oil should not be too hot or else the modaks will burn and will not cook completely.
Keep stirring it occasionally so that it cooks well from all four sides. Serve hot.
They can be stored in airtight containers.
